Memorial Day Weekend 2009 was a busy one.  During the weekend we:

Hosted the 1st Annual Wagar Family Farm Family Camp and had two other families stop over and spend a couple of days with us.  The weekend was full of activities from exploring the creek, to archery, to camp fires, to sleeping outside, to running inside after a crack of lightening hit about 100 yards away.

In addition to the family camp, my Mom and Dad came up and we built a 12x24 deck on the front of the house (see pics below)  This deck is stage on of the front porch and stage 2 (adding a roof) will need to wait until at least this fall.

All in all it was a great weekend full of family friends, food and fun.  Thanks to everyone who participated.

We finally got see blooms on Gram's irises from her yard that we dug up the day of the funeral and transplanted down here...they are incredibly beautiful, like her!

I was just getting ready to wax poetic about how lovely it was, after a fairly good day of homeschooling, arbitrating arguments, etc, to look outside and see all four  of my oldest children outside sitting up top of the swing set, engaged in conversation about planning a circus event in the backyard for tonight (D. let me know about this earlier), when the serenity was interrupted with the screams of D. because B. hit her in the head with the bat, followed by complaints of C. not sharing the snack sent out for everybody, and I think there was at least one other injustice complained about as well!  Ah, well...at least they're human:).  And still pretty good friends as far as I can tell...still just working on their interpersonal communication skills!
